Site FAQ

I don't know about you but I don't like the idea of having my personal information available to everyone on the world-wide-web and this website does not allow "Internet Search Engines" access (unless you, personally, authorize access) to your personal information.  I would also assure you only registered Classmates who provide proper login credentials will be allowed to see any of your personal information and you - and only you - decide what other "logged-in" Classmates are allowed to know about you.  In fact, you can even decide NOT to allow "logged-in" Classmates to see that you are currently "logged-in".

When you create your profile you check (or un-check) options to allow others to see (or NOT see) your personal information.  As an example, here's how I have mine set up:

Profile Visibility:
Allow only fellow Classmates to view my Profile details. This will block the public and search engines from accessing your Profile. Leave this box unchecked if you wish to allow the public (friends, co-workers, family members, etc.) to view your Profile details.

Contact Details:
Allow logged-in Classmates to see my address and phone number (this information is hidden from your Classmates unless you check this box). This information is never available to the general public or search engines if this box is checked.

Birthday:
Allow Classmates to view my Birthday. This option allows Classmates to see your Date of Birth in your Profile and on the home page 30 days prior to your Birthday.

Classmate Comments:
Allow Classmates to enter comments under my Profile. (Most users opt to leave this feature on. You have the ability to edit or delete any comments left under your Profile.)

Instant Messages:
Allow other Classmates to send me Instant Messages through the web site (recommended).

I strongly suggest, after registering yourself at this site, that you logout and view the site as though you had found it browsing the internet. I did this and it helped me feel more comfortable with the settings I had chosen.

Frequently Asked Questions:

(1) If I sign-up at www.WestBremerton1971.com will I be asked to pay for anything other than the reunion dinner and/or golf?
 - NO, it costs nothing to join at this site

(2) If I become dis-satisfied with my participation in the site can I opt-out?
 - YES, simply "Contact Us" and we'll remove every trace of you from the site

(3) How is the website funded?
 - We receive $50.00 each time someone browses the site and clicks our promo code (M4135472) link at the bottom of the page, followed by signing-up for a website with ClassCreator.com.

(4) I had a very poor (or no) Senior Picture and would like to present my own for use on the site.  How can this be accomplished?
 - Simply "Contact Us" with a JPEG, GIF, or PNG image no larger than 1000x1000 and we'll install it for you.  We're also amenable to looking through yearbooks other than the graduating year for photos you might prefer.

(5) I've been thumbing through the yearbook and have a suggestion about content for the website.  How can I make suggestions for placement of media?
 - Simply click this link: Website Improvements - post your concerns/suggestions and we'll get right on it!

(6) Can I upload my own materials into my profile?  Pictures, home-page, and such?
- YES, we encourage you to reveal whatever you'd like to about yourself - it's fun to hear what you've been doing for the past 40 years and adds enjoyment for everyone.

(7) Can I upload photos/text to Galleries like "Past Reunions"?
- YES!

(8) I'm not sure what to write about myself - do you have any suggestions?
- SURE, the best content is that which you create on your own - it's wonderful to hear all about you - in your own words.  If you're in doubt, look at other classmate profiles to glean ideas.  We recommend you try not to make statements like "... then Jean divorced me and moved with our children to the East Coast and I haven't seen them since".  We also recommend you browse through the "In Memory" section - it's really amazing to read what our colleagues who have passed-on had to say at the last reunion they attended!  Write something because someone will read it and get a kick out of your time since High School!

(9) What's required in my profile?
 - Absolutely nothing!  You do not have to tell what city you currently reside in, don't have to mention your birthday, or anything else if you would prefer not to.  Perhaps you'd only like to join to get information about the reunion dinner and picnic - feel free (but it's pretty cool to hear about you).

(10) I registered and could not see my Senior Yearbook photo - how come?
 - It's a daunting task to scan more than 360 photos so we update the site nightly with photos of registrants that day.

(11) Will I ever receive email from www.WestBremerton1971.com?  I hate SPAM!
 - We promise the only reason we'll ever contact you is if you contact us first

(12) I'm not happy the details of my loved-one who passed away is viewable to the public on your site.  What can be done about this?
 - "Contact Us" and we'll either: (a) remove your loved one or (b) make the profile accessible only to logged-in classmates.
