Steve attended the 20th Reunion and wrote:  Out of high school, i joined the Air Force from '71-'74.  I worked for a year at Keyport as a radar technician followed by five years at P.S.N.S.. as an electronics technician.  I graduated from the welding apprenticeship and earned two degrees in '76 and '78 from O.C.  For the last 11 years I have been a free lance welder working for private companies and on many cars.  I was married from '73 - '78 to now ex-spouse Louise Jane Mathis (Class of '72) and have two daughters, Samantha Lee Alden age 18 1/2, who just graduated this year from South Kitsap and Christina Ginnette Alden (age 2 1/2).  I am currently a pipe welder and enjoy buying, selling, trading, and restoring old cars and motorcycles.  My memories of '71 are the music, (are the Beatles really through?) the anti-war movement, Earth Day and Ecology Day, the end of an era of great American cars

I got to know Steve well during our senior year.  He was a surprisingly "deep" guy who did not let others in very often.  He had a great sense of humor and was a lot of fun, and lived life to the fullest.  He was truly a good friend.

Steve came to my rescue quite a few times during  our high school years, His family came out to Washington State around the same time my family did when the Brooklyn shipyard closed down in 1965.  Steve was like a brother to me, often  making sure  I had a seat on the school bus (Johnny was our bus driver) if I missed the 1st pickup at the firehall.  I think about Steve often, and am grateful to have known such a great guy!
